prices! The centers, even on the busiest day, are not as congested with shoppers as traditional shopping malls. There are stores that everyone can enjoy, from clothing shops to home décor and cooking stores. I personally favor J.Crew, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Coach and Ralph Lauren. John, who loves to shop, was a great (and patient!) shopping companion as we snooped around the stores.

Next, we visited a fun shopping locale called Barefoot Landing. Shopping and dining are located on the perimeter of a 27-acre lake. The setting is ideal for kids. They can romp around the fun stores and spin themselves silly on the old time carousel as you weave in and out of numerous whimsical boutiques. I love the carousel because in addition to traditional horses and carriages, kids can ride on the backs of ostriches, frogs, elephants, unicorns and other wild creatures!

Myrtle Beach Day Trip Continued
from January/February 2007

There is a refreshing breeze wafting off of the lake so you may enjoy the natural setting of this destination. We discovered that Barefoot Landing carries many items that you will enjoy and it is also a great place for tourists to find souvenirs to take back home. Our favorite picks here were Creative Glassblowing, Four Footed Friends, Marvelous Magnets, and Kohr’s Frozen Desserts.
The last place we visited is a fantastic tourist attraction, Broadway at the Beach. We had so much fun here that we could have spent the entire day enjoying the 350 acres of shopping and entertainment. Designed around a lake to connote an old fishing village, there are countless activities for kids and adults of all ages to enjoy. A New England Village, Caribbean Village, Charleston Boardwalk and Heroes’ Harbor offer fun landscapes for a day of excitement. Be your kids’ hero when you take them to the Dragon’s Lair, a medieval golf course, Ripley’s Aquarium, and even an IMAX theater! Just be sure to watch out for the fire-breathing dragon!
